HOW WILL BE THE FUTURE WHEN THE “MILLENNIALS” TAKE THE POWER?

By definition the millennials are young people between 17 and 30 years old. The main characteristic? Is a generation widemind-opened to technology. If we remember the “Pelota de letras” by Andres Lopez, he said that the millennials are the same of the called the “Y Generation” which he describes like people that have their own language in terms of technology. Their chilhoold was in front of tv, where they whatched programs like “Barney” and “Zoboomafoo” and grew up with this, now in their puberty and adolescence there people take care of them in “Combos” or “parches” like Herds of people in the society. In fact, will the future be save with them in charge?

Now, we are going to talk about the behavior and attitudes about us… the Millennials in Colombia. The last year the newspaper “El tiempo” posted and article about this and the main grafic on the post has amazing numbers like 90 percent of us have a smartphone, Tablet or laptop and 15 percert have the three. It’s amazing if we think about that ten years ago WiFi was a “new toy” fo rus and avaliable in my case until 5 or 6 years ago. They are not that bad (In case that you think about the technology will take the control of all) surprisingly, 69 percent of people still read the newspaper, and 83 percent listen radio programs including news.

But yes, the millennials are also young people, so we have a party or hang out two times in a month with friends or relatives, and at least one time to go to the cinema in the same month. For the oldest people the bads things are about the jobs, for example, if you are a millennial you have and a 50 percent of posibilities that you don’t take care properly for yourself… and the education? Well… the 40 percent think that it’s not necesary the formal studies (I prefer the formal) that’s a negative characteristic for a boss who could be on his or her 40’s or 50’s and in addition probably you are at the same position that the 70 percent who thinks that in your actual job They don’t approach the 100% of your skills.

For that reason the world is changing, new challenges appear every day, new kinds of jobs are created – and also destroyed -  but the live-world is faster and global. Now is almost mandatory to have internationatial friends, learn that nothing is far, and you can get it and do it. This is the world that the millennials are creating and developings for the future, for me, it is exciting to think that you could travel not only into your own country, I live in Colombia but in two months I would visit the USA, Europe and finish in China. It’s a new world It’s our world.
