EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY IN HEALTH

In a timeline we can find technological advances in the field:

  • 1895 W.C. Roenteng see X-Rays, which then were improved.

  • 1921 first used a microscope in an operation; now instead of microscopes, technical ‘’endoscopy’’   to perform any surgery too small to view human inside. This technique allows to review tissue through a tiny bulb placed at the edge of a thin wire made of optical fiber.

  • 1942 is used for the first time an artificial kidney for dialysis; This system of artificial organs has been developed significantly all over the world and has a major boom. Thousands of people currently receive daily artificial transplants. However, the technique is still limited, since they have failed to create, for example, intestines, livers, etc.

  •    1952 P.M. Zoll implanted the first pacemaker; they are electrical devices that make beating heart discharging electrical impulses, which replaced the system of control of the heart. It consists of a box of little weight that is implanted under the skin. The box carries a lithium battery that lasts more than 10 years.

  •   1953 Gest the model of the double helix of DNA; It can be said that this discovery revolutionized both medicine and our way of thinking.

  •   1967 first human heart transplant. Today, these transplants, thanks to the application of the technology, is a relatively simple operation. The risk has decreased markedly.

  •   1978 first baby conceived in Vitro, i.e.: joined ova and spermatozoa in growth medium resulted in test tube.

In conclusion with the passage of time in the medical technological advances have been very significant for human life since they have contributed in large part to save lives in a way more simple and effective.
